Went here again last night and Alicia was our server again! Adding photos of the beautiful bowl of bi bim bap. Also had the cucumber it's, which was incredibly delicious.

I love this place. The first time we came here was back in 2022, and we loved their food, ambiance and service. This time, we came back with my coworkers from California, and they enjoyed this place as well. The decor changed a bit but still had the same nice vibe and food. Always looking forward to going here when we are in Chicago.

This is one of the best spots in PR for dinner. The food is delicious. They have great entree options, a huge sushi menu and the service is fantastic. There is great music in the background that creates a fun vibe for a night out. There is bar seating and the bar staff make good cocktails.

I recently came in for dinner on a weeknight. I was promptly greeted by the hostess and taken to a table. My friend that I was dining with, of course, was running late. I appreciated that Server Elisha continued to check on me. Her customer service was above excellent throughout my visit. I asked her some questions about the menu, and she was very knowledgeable. The atmosphere of the restaurant was almost club like. It felt very clean and welcoming. Portion sizes were decent. Prices were upon average of sushi restaurants in Chicagoland. There was some street parking in front. However, as there are multiple restaurants located on this block, I parked around the corner. I would recommend!

This place deserves a 10/10 on ambiance and food. The customer service could have been a lot better. Our server barely came to our table and we even had to go look for someone to get food and the check. Order: -Lobster sushi - First time trying lobster and it was amazing! -Chicken fried rice - 10/10 -Firecracker Shrimp - 8/10 (a little too sweet for me but still good) -Thai lettuce wraps - 5/10 (didn't meet our expectations) I can't wait to go back and try different dishes.

Shakou is a solid sushi restaurant with plenty of seating. Perfect for large parties. The service is a bit slow, but not unbearably long. I love the Dragon Fire and Black Widow sushi rolls. The bottom side of the rice of the Dragon Fire is pan fried to crunchy crisp. The Black Widow has a large piece of scallop on top. Both rolls were very unique and tasty! I would definitely order this roll again.

Came here for dinner during a week night, and it was not too crowded. The ambiance and design of the restaurant was nice. The sushi was delicious, (Volcano signature roll is a must). Chicken Teriyaki was also pretty good. The Bulgogi egg roll was a bit disappointing however, more of a vegetable spring roll than marinated ribeye beef. Staff was attentive and friendly. If you are not familiar with the location, be aware it is street parking and can be a challenge.

If you don't watch yourself, it's almost too easy to pay a hundred dollars per person at Shakou - sometimes more if you have an expensive taste. Then again, you're paying for the high quality of the sushi and sashimi here. The two rolls I had were the Black Widow and the Niku Niku, both beautifully presented and aesthetically pleasing. It's unfortunate that this restaurant is so dimly lit where it will dilute and dull the wondrous array of colors of the rolls if you don't put your flash on while capturing a photo. It's sushi etiquette to eat each piece in one bite, yet in practice that nicety seems to be quite difficult with the portion sizes here...and if you have a small mouth like I do. Sure, eating it in two bites will make the highly packed rice crumble, but it also leads you to savor and appreciate the detecting subtle flavor and texture. Now, the Black Widow roll was decent, though I was expecting a bigger flavor profile. The fat, sliced scallops that lay on top of each piece adds a bouncy and firm texture, but I wish I could remark more on the taste. Yes, the scallop adds a buttery, delicate, and somewhat sweet flavor, but the entire rolls is disappointing as it didn't meet its potential to be layered with a world of wondrous flavors from the unagi sauce, tobiko, eel, or mayo. If anything, the roll was more memorable with its distinct mouthfeel and presentation. The Niku Niku roll was much more enjoyable, and my favorite from the two. Each bite is soft enough, but when compressed by the act of eating, the NY strip inside rebels with its tough and chewy attribute. The chili oil brings out a nice smoky heat that isn't necessary a burning sensation, but pleasantly spicy. The rest of the ingredients - the avocado, rice, vegetables, and soy paper - are naturally mild where the chili oil becomes the star of the show. All things considered, the classy and upscale atmosphere is appealing for a night out. Still, in terms of flavor profile, BluFish may have a competitive edge in this neighborhood.

Enjoyed a nice evening. I went to the Shakou in Naperville a few years ago that has since been shut down. We ordered spicy edamame to start and miso soups which were good. The edamame was VERY spicy and came in a large portion. We stuck to rolls for the evening and ordered the dragon fire (my favorite), ocean drive, and urban heat. The ocean drive roll was my boyfriend's favorite and paired nicely with the two spicy rolls we had and finished clean. Service was a little slower than expected, I had to flag our waitress down a couple times and asked a different waitress about my miso soup but nothing crazy to kill the vibe. Good sushi, it's a bit on the higher end if you're feeling fancy.
